Meme Coin Market Intelligence — 9.7–9.13, 2026

The full price board on UTC closes: eight tokens, one green live read, a -12.5% combined-cap week, and the rotation map from the month's failed V-bottom attempt.

This is the price-first companion to the weekly data report: the full board, printed numbers, and what the cross-section says that any single coin cannot. Closes are UTC daily closes; as-of dates are printed wherever a coin's latest published close precedes the nominal week boundary. The monthly report for August 2026 lives here.

1. Price Board — the eight large caps

CoinSep 6 closeWeek-end close (as-of)ChangeCap (week-end)
DOGE$0.09082$0.08485 (Sep 12)-6.6%$13.23B
SHIB$0.000005525$0.000005172 (Sep 11)-6.4%$3.05B
PEPE$0.00000365$0.00000340 (Sep 12)-6.8%$1.43B
PENGU$0.00878$0.00833 (Sep 8)-5.1%$522M
SPX$0.577$0.5021 (Sep 12)-13.0%$467M
BONK$0.00000341$0.00000316 (Sep 7)-7.3%≈$281M
FLOKI$0.0000264$0.0000245 (Sep 11)-7.2%$237M
WIF—+9.2% trailing 7d (live Sep 15)green≈$214M

BONK's cap is printed with a ≈ because trackers disagree by up to ~15% on its circulating supply; we compute close × ~88.8T throughout this site and say so rather than silently choosing a favourite. WIF's live read stands in for a close its history pages had not published at press time.

2. What the Board Says

  • One green row, and it is a live read, not a close. WIF's +9.2% trailing-7-day figure (Forbes, Sep 15) is the board's only positive number. Seven of eight closing prints were red, in a -5.1% to -13.0% band — tight, at the top; wide at the bottom.
  • The spread between best and worst closed the week at 7.9 points (PENGU -5.1% vs SPX -13.0%). In the August 24–30 drawdown the same spread was 32.6 points. A narrower dispersion in a red week reads as beta selling — everyone down together — rather than idiosyncratic blowups.
  • The middle of the board is eerily uniform. DOGE -6.6%, PEPE -6.8%, BONK -7.3%, FLOKI -7.2%, SHIB -6.4%: five of eight within 0.9 points of each other. When five independently-owned assets move as one, the buyer and seller is the same pool of capital rotating, not eight stories happening at once.

3. Rotation map — where the month's bid actually went

AssetAug 16 closeAug 30 closeSep 6 closeLatest closeNet (Aug 16 →)
DOGE$0.06948$0.08210$0.09082$0.08485+22.1%
SHIB$0.00000443$0.000004952$0.000005525$0.000005172+16.8%
PEPE$0.000002572$0.000003405$0.00000365$0.00000340+32.2%
PENGU$0.00591$0.00861$0.00878$0.00833+41.0%
SPX$0.316$0.539$0.577$0.5021+58.9%
BONK$0.00000232$0.00000279$0.00000341$0.00000316+36.2%
FLOKI$0.0000224$0.0000239$0.0000264$0.0000245+9.4%
WIF$0.1358$0.1894—+9.2% 7d livepositive

Zoom out and the failed week reframes: even after -12.5% on the week, all eight members still sit above their August 16 base — SPX +58.9%, PENGU +41.0%, BONK +36.2% at the top; FLOKI, at +9.4%, barely. September's correction has so far returned the board toward its late-August levels, not through them. FLOKI's thin cushion is the honest caveat: it participated least in the August run, and it is the member closest to giving it all back.

4. Breadth check: eight tokens, one advancer

Weekly advancers: 1 of 8 (WIF, on a live read). Three-week advancers (Aug 16 → Sep 12): 8 of 8. The contrast is the message — this was not a month-long trend breaking, it was a one-week bounce failing. Breadth on the monthly window remains fully positive; breadth on the weekly window is as narrow as the board allows. When those two disagree, the weekly usually wins the next two weeks and the monthly wins the next two months. Both statements can be true; which one matters depends on your holding period.

5. Positioning watch

  • PENGU perp funding was positive at ~+0.0050% per 8 hours on September 7 (Zipmex) even as spot fell — leveraged longs leaning into weakness.
  • SHIB exchange reserves fell 0.2% to 87.23T through the drawdown (CoinDesk data via KuCoin) — sell-side float shrinking while price fell is the opposite of distribution at the venue level.
  • DOGE's volume profile thinned as the week fell ($929M on the Sep 11 break, $346M on Sep 12) — no capitulation signature.

6. What would change next week's board

  1. A DOGE daily close under $0.08 — the last unfished level between the board and its August 16 baselines. Below it, the monthly +22% DOGE frame goes to test.
  2. PEPE reclaiming the 200-day EMA (≈$0.00000364) with the mid-whale cohort stopping its 80-billion-token distribution — the single most informative coin-level event available.
  3. The BitGo SHIB satellites moving to exchanges — turning the month's biggest custody story into the month's biggest supply story.
  4. Bitcoin losing $75,000 — which would recast this entire week as the leading edge of something broader, and retire the 'rotation' framing immediately.

7. Volume quality board

AssetWeek's key volume printGrade
DOGE$929M on the Sep 11 break → $346M next day; heavy at the decision, light afterB+
SHIBSteady $60–78M daily through the week; no panic printsB
SPX$8.5M (Sep 10) on a -6.9% day; thin books amplify movesC+
PEPE$200–250M daily; deep but distribution-shaped (Santiment cohort data)C
PENGUSolana DEX 24h ≈$10M vs $216M all-venue; venue mix skewC-

Grades are ours, criteria are printed: depth at the week's decision point, behaviour on the down days, and venue mix. DOGE earns its grade because the heaviest volume landed on the week's most consequential session — the false break of $0.09 — which is where you want liquidity to be.

8. The month so far — and the monthly report

September to date (from the August 30 close to the latest closes): DOGE +3.3%, SHIB +4.4%, PEPE -0.1%, SPX -6.8%. After the first week's rally and the second week's unwind, the month is roughly flat for the large caps — which is exactly what a failed V looks like from a month's altitude. The full August retrospective, with the month's complete board and narrative, is the separate August 2026 monthly report.

FAQ

Why print exact closes instead of rounded moves?

Because the closes are the evidence and the moves are the arithmetic. Anyone can subtract $0.08485 from $0.09082 and get -6.6%; nobody can audit a move that was never anchored to a number. The table prints both so the arithmetic is checkable in ten seconds.

Why is WIF's row different from the others?

Its public history pages had not published daily closes for September 6–12 at our September 15 press time. Rather than fabricate a close, we quote Forbes' live trailing-7-day figure and label it as a live read. The row is honest about what it is, which is the entire standard.

The five middle coins moved within one point of each other — coincidence?

Almost certainly not. Five independently-owned assets landing within 0.9 points of weekly change (DOGE -6.6, PEPE -6.8, BONK -7.3, FLOKI -7.2, SHIB -6.4) is the signature of a shared marginal buyer and seller. The exceptions — SPX's -13.0% and PENGU's -5.1% — are the idiosyncratic stories worth reading individually.

How does the volume quality board work?

Three printed criteria: depth at the week's decision point, behaviour on the down days, and venue mix. The grades (B+ to C-) are our judgment calls on those criteria — but the underlying prints (DOGE's $929M break day, SPX's $8.5M thin-book day) are facts you can check against the linked sources.

Is the monthly report separate from this?

Yes. The August 2026 monthly report is its own article with the complete month board and narrative. This piece links to it rather than duplicating it, because a weekly that rewrites the monthly every week is a weekly that has stopped trusting its own archive.
